Online Direct Deposit

Save yourself a trip to the bank or ATM and get immediate access to your money with direct deposit. Have your pay, dividends and Government of Canada payments (for example, tax refund, Child Tax Benefit, Old Age Security) automatically deposited into your account.

How to set up direct deposit

Step 1

To set up direct deposit for your paycheque, dividends and other payments (excluding Government of Canada), download the BMO Direct Deposit form.

To set up direct deposit for your Government of Canada payments, download the Government of Canada direct deposit form, visit a branch, call 1-877-225-5266 (TTY 1-866-889-0889) or visit directdeposit.gc.ca.

Step 2

Complete the form, then save it or print it, depending on how the payer requests you send the information.

Step 3

Attach a void cheque or include your account number, financial institution number and branch transit number.

  • You can find this information on your cheques or by signing in to Online Banking.
  • Click My Accounts.
  • Select your bank account. You will find the information in the blue box.

Step 4

Send the completed form to the payer.
