BMO® MasterPass™*

What is BMO MasterPass?

A free digital wallet service that makes online shopping fast and safe by storing all of your payment and shipping information in one convenient and secure place. With your BMO MasterPass, you simply shop, and checkout faster.

To use MasterPass :

  1. Click on the "Buy With MasterPass" button at checkout
  2. Unlock your MasterPass™* account, select payment and shipping options, and complete your purchase


Convenient and Secure

You only have to set up your BMO MasterPass account once. Your BMO MasterPass will store your information so you don’t have to input it every time you shop online. Then, when checking out online, look for the MasterPass button, just sign-in and let your BMO MasterPass do the rest.

When you sign in, a personal security message activates BMO MasterPass*. Your data reaches the seller over an encrypted channel. You can also enable Mobile Verification to add another layer to these robust protective features. Once enabled, it sends a 4-digit code to your mobile phone. Enter that one-time code and checkout is complete.

You must have a BMO® Mastercard®* card.


BMO® PowerSwitch®

BMO PowerSwitch is a free service that helps you transfer your recurring automatic payments (aka pre-authorized payments) from a different financial institution to your new BMO credit card or chequing account. We notify your Pre-Authorized Billers of the switch so you don’t have to.

With PowerSwitch, you can :

  • Transfer your current automatic Pre-Authorized Payments to your new BMO account. This could include everything from utility bills and condominium fees to gym memberships and more.
  • Set up new or update existing Pre-Authorized Payments to your BMO credit card.
  • Make changes to your BMO credit card Pre-Authorized Payments due to lost, stolen, or expired credit cards in one location.
  • View the status of your PowerSwitch notification.

How to make the switch?

To set up PowerSwitch, sign on to BMO Online Banking with your credit card and:

  1. Click the Payments & Transfers tab in the top navigation.
  2. Select Add a Pre-Authorized Payment in the left navigation. This will bring up the PowerSwitch screen.
  3. Click the Start Power Switch button. Have your bill account numbers handy when you start the set up.

PowerSwitch supports bills from thousands of Canadian companies such as telecommunications, public utilities, insurance and subscription services. Some billers may not be currently supported; however, new billers are being added all the time.

Some billers, including financial institutions, do not accept the use of PowerSwitch service for transfers, including pay cheques. Financial institutions that do, may request confirmation of the transfer from the customer.

Online Account Access

Access your account information whenever you need to, from wherever you log on. Sign in to BMO Online Banking using your BMO debit or credit card number (or follow the simple steps to register your card).

For BMO Debit Card Holders
To access BMO Online Banking, you will need your BMO Debit Card and the account number(s) linked to your card. You'll be asked some security questions.
