Joanna Rotenberg is Group Head, BMO Wealth Management, a global group of businesses with an active presence in markets across Canada, the United States, EMEA and Asia. The businesses serve a full range of clients, from mass-affluent to ultra-high net worth and institutional, with a diversified offering of asset management, insurance and wealth management solutions.
Joanna is a member of the bank’s Executive Committee, a board director for Nesbitt Burns Holdings Corporation, and the executive sponsor for BMO for Women, a unique program that helps women business owners achieve their full potential by providing goals-based planning, innovative product solutions, access to capital, networking, skill building, and recognition.
Joanna joined BMO in 2010 as Senior Vice-President and Head of Strategy, and in 2013, she expanded her mandate to include Chief Marketing Officer. She was appointed Group Head of BMO Wealth Management in 2016.
Prior to joining BMO, Joanna was a Partner with McKinsey & Company and a leader in McKinsey’s North American financial services practice, serving clients in wealth and asset management, banking and insurance. She also led McKinsey’s North American retirement and consumer research initiatives.
Joanna is very active within the Toronto community and serves on the Sinai Health System Board of Directors. An alumnus of the Rotman School of Business, she is also Chair of the Rotman Financial Services Advisory Board and serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board.
In 2017, Joanna was named one of Canada's Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network, and in 2018 she was recognized as a “Women in Capital Markets Champion of Change” for her leadership in being a strong voice for change in the advancement of women in financial services. In 2019, for an unprecedented tenth year in a row, American Banker’s editors selected Joanna and the BMO team of women leaders to win a Most Powerful Women in Banking and Finance Top Team Award.Joanna received her combined JD/MBA degree with distinction from the University of Toronto and is a member of the New York State Bar.
