Our giving priorities
BMO’s employee and community giving aims to support programs and initiatives in the following areas.
- BMO grows economies: Through our philanthropic programs, we advance the financial education, well-being, and economic mobility of our clients and communities.
- BMO grows sustainably: Growing sustainably means working hand-in-hand with universities, research centres, and nonprofits to pioneer solutions that protect the environment and drive the transition to a more sustainable future.
- BMO grows strong communities: Act as a catalyst for progress through capital investment, sponsorships and donations, as well as financial literacy and educational programming. Our culture inspires our colleagues to get involved, give back and volunteer their time to make an impact.
How to request a donation or event sponsorship
Funding applications are accepted online and are considered if you have a program or project that aligns with our focus areas and meets our eligibility criteria.
Grant applications are accepted online during the following months in 2026:
- February
- September
Building Community Resilience grant cycle
We are prioritizing applications from charities and nonprofit organizations delivering programs that help build resilient communities. We welcome innovative, collaborative initiatives that support individuals and families facing economic challenges and create pathways to long-term stability and opportunity. Priority areas include:
- Food security
- Workforce development and employment support
- Financial resilience and debt counselling
- Housing stability
- Mental health and community wellbeing
