Indigenous commitments

wîcihitowin ᐑᒋᐦᐃᑐᐏᐣ

We are taking steps to support progress for First Nation, Inuit and Métis Peoples and to deliver on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Call to Action 92.

Check out wîcihitowin ᐑᒋᐦᐃᑐᐏᐣ (pronounced ‘wee-chih-hito-win’) to learn how we’re partnering with Indigenous communities in Canada to support economic reconciliation.

Enterprise Indigenous strategy

We engage with Indigenous Peoples across three pillars – Education, Employment and Economic Empowerment – that rest on a platform of zero barriers to inclusion for all.

We are PAIR GOLD certified.

We’ve been recognized with a three-year, gold-level Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) by the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) seven consecutive times, signaling to communities that we are a good business partner, great place to work and committed to prosperity in Indigenous communities.

    Indigenous Advisory Council

The Indigenous Advisory Council guides our strategy.

In 2020, BMO established and formalized the role of the Indigenous Advisory Council (IAC), comprising Indigenous representatives from across Canada.
