New Ivey leadership course marks latest milestone in BMO partnership
BMO Gives & Sponsorships
Recently. nearly 200 small business and not-for-profit leaders gathered in Toronto for the launch of Character-Driven Leadership, a new, free online course developed by Ivey Business School's Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership.
The launch marks the latest milestone in BMO's $3.5 million commitment to the Institute and reflects a shared goal of expanding access to leadership development beyond the classroom.
Designed to help leaders navigate complexity and make difficult decisions, the course translates more than 15 years of leadership research into practical tools that can be applied in workplaces and communities.
The course also features perspectives from BMO leaders, including Darryl White and Mona Malone, who share how character and judgment inform leadership in complex situations.
BMO's commitment supports programs and resources that help equip current and future leaders with the skills, judgment and character needed to strengthen organizations, communities and Canada's economy.
Exploring leadership in times of complexity
To mark the launch, Ivey and the Institute hosted The Hard Call: Character-Driven Leadership in Times of Complexity, an event bringing together business, community and academic leaders for a discussion on leadership, judgment and decision-making.
The event included remarks from BMO and Ivey leaders, a live demonstration of the new course, and a panel discussion featuring leaders from the not-for-profit, governance and entrepreneurial sectors about the ways character helps guide decision-making when the right path forward is not always clear.
