Investing in Montreal’s future: BMO announces major real estate initiatives
Growth & Strategy
BMO was founded in Montreal in 1817, and more than two centuries later it remains one of our most important markets.
This week, we reaffirmed our commitment to Montreal with the announcement of new real estate investments that will strengthen our brand presence, modernize our workspaces and deliver an enhanced One Client experience.
“The foundation of BMO’s success in Montreal is our people, which means investing in our teams and our infrastructure is essential to achieving our goals. These investments in our workspaces will support and empower our teams, enabling them to do even more for our clients, and help accelerate our growth across the Greater Montreal Area.”
- Gregoire Baillargeon, President, BMO Quebec
Our largest investment will be the development of a new One Client location at 1250 René-Lévesque West. This best-in-class facility will open in 2028, bringing together Montreal-based teams from Wealth, Commercial Banking and Insurance. The BMO logo will be featured on the west side of the building, giving us a prominent brand presence on the Montreal skyline.
BMO’s historic Montreal Head Office will also see significant investment, balancing upgrades to the building’s technology infrastructure and the addition of modern, vibrant workspaces with preservation of the building’s unique heritage.
As this work is ongoing, BMO will continue to invest in our downtown Montreal branch network, elevating our client experience and aligning our physical presence in Montreal with our strategy.
“Montreal remains a unique market for BMO and a key driver of future growth,” says Gregoire. “By investing in our people, workplaces, and infrastructure, we’re building on more than two centuries of leadership in the city while positioning BMO for continued success in Quebec — and beyond.”
