BMO expands Blue Rewards to help clients earn more from everyday banking
Growth & Strategy
Canadians are looking for more ways to stretch their dollars and get value from the purchases they make every day. That's why BMO is expanding Blue Rewards with new earning opportunities, enhanced partner offers and a seamless digital experience designed to help clients save money and make real financial progress.
The enhancements mark an important milestone in the growth of Blue Rewards and reinforce BMO's commitment to delivering meaningful everyday value to clients through personalized rewards, digital innovation and strong partner relationships.
"We are making Blue Rewards more rewarding, convenient and relevant to how BMO clients bank every day. Whether they are buying groceries, filling up at the pump, ordering dinner or shopping with participating partners, our clients have more opportunities to earn rewards and more ways to access them through the digital experiences they use most. By helping clients get more value from everyday spending, we are helping them make real financial progress."
- Jennifer Hawkins, President, Blue Rewards
More ways to earn on everyday spending
For the first time, eligible BMO chequing account clients can earn Blue Points on qualifying debit card purchases, bringing rewards to everyday transactions such as groceries, gas, EV charging and wholesale purchases. Eligible clients can earn one Point for every $2 spent on qualifying purchases, with up to 150 Points available each month.
The enhancement reflects a broader shift in loyalty programs toward rewarding everyday behaviours rather than occasional spending, creating more opportunities for clients to earn value from routine financial activities. Based on the success of Blue Rewards since launch, BMO sees significant opportunity to deepen client engagement by making rewards more accessible and relevant to how Canadians bank today.
Our expanded partner ecosystem creates more value
BMO is also expanding the ways clients can earn through Blue Rewards by introducing enhanced partner offers. When eligible offers are activated, BMO clients can earn double Points at Instacart, Dollarama and participating MTY Group restaurants, including popular brands such as Jugo Juice, Mr. Sub, Mucho Burrito, Pizza Delight, TacoTime, Sushi Shop and Thai Express.
These partnerships build on BMO's strategy of helping clients earn rewards through the places they already shop, dine and spend. By connecting rewards to everyday moments, Blue Rewards delivers practical value that can help clients make the most of their spending while creating a richer loyalty experience.
A simpler, more connected digital experience
Blue Rewards is now seamlessly integrated into BMO Online Banking and the BMO Mobile Banking app, creating a more convenient experience for clients. Through secure single sign-on functionality, clients can enroll in Blue Rewards, link existing memberships, track rewards balances, discover personalized offers and access redemption experiences all within the digital channels they already use.
The integration represents another step forward in BMO's digital-first strategy, bringing together banking, rewards and offers in one connected experience. This approach removes friction for clients while making it easier to discover opportunities to save, earn and redeem.
Supporting real financial progress
At its core, Blue Rewards is designed to help clients get more value from their everyday banking relationship. By combining expanded earning opportunities, partner offers and a seamless digital experience, the enhanced program gives clients greater flexibility in how they earn and redeem rewards – while helping them make meaningful progress toward their financial goals.
For BMO, the continued evolution of Blue Rewards represents more than the growth of a loyalty program. It reflects the bank's commitment to delivering innovative experiences that strengthen client relationships, create differentiated value and support long-term growth. As Blue Rewards continues to expand, BMO remains focused on helping clients unlock more benefits from everyday banking and spending.
