Remote Deposit Capture Setup

Setting up your remote deposit scanner is quick and easy. We’ve gathered some resources to help you set up your scanner and install its software. Then, you can get started depositing checks remotely right into your account.

Installing your remote deposit software

Here are the steps you’ll need to take to set up remote deposits:

  1. Check your email. After ordering your scanner from BMO, we’ll send you a confirmation email with your user name and password. You’ll need that info handy to install the software.
  2. Install the software. You’ll need to set up remote deposit software on your workstation before you can start depositing checks. The software installation guide below can help you.
  3. Set up your scanner. The scanner connects to your workstation using a U S B port. When loading checks into your scanner, be sure to line up the lower left corners to prevent jams.

System requirements

To use remote deposit, you’ll need to install the software on a workstation that meets these minimum requirements. You can find these details within your computer’s Settings:

  • Pentium®1 4 2.0 GHz or Core 2 Duo 1.86 GHz Processor
  • 512 M B ram (For optimal performance, particularly with scanners faster than 30 documents per minute, additional ram is recommended)
  • 250 M B free hard drive space
  • Network card
  • Broadband internet access
  • U S B 2.0
  • Screen resolution 1024 by 768

  • Microsoft Windows®2 7 S P 1 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Microsoft Windows® 8 (32-bit or 64-bit)

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer®2 11 (Internet Explorer only supports ActiveX Controls)

Helpful tips:

  1. Windows might be restricting your internet traffic using a firewall. If so, you’ll need to allow H T T P S transmissions by opening standard port 443.
  2. Within Internet Explorer®, under Internet Options, you’ll need to add the RDC URL to the Trusted Sites list. Add https://bmodepositedge.com as a trusted site.
