WMNfintech 2026 founders continue their transformational journey across North America
Talent & Inclusion
The 2026 WMNfintech cohort has been on an immersive growth journey across key innovation hubs in North America: Toronto, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.
WMNfintech, an award-winning program launched by BMO in collaboration with 1871, has become North America's largest alumni network of fintech founders that support the women fintech ecosystem, providing entrepreneurs access to a robust support network to help them to grow their businesses and connecting our teams to the newest technologies and products on the market.
The cohort’s first stop was Toronto, to kick off the program and hold the WMNfintech Showcase.
Second stop, Chicago
Chicago Tech Week provided another high-impact immersion experience for the 2026 WMNfintech cohort, bringing founders together with investors, industry leaders, innovators, and BMO executives.
Throughout the week, founders explored how innovation is transforming industries, strengthened connections across the fintech ecosystem, and gained insights into the regulatory, operational, and growth considerations involved in scaling a business. Key moments included a private visit to the Art Institute of Chicago exploring other famous types of innovation, where participants had the opportunity to get behind the scenes with the museum’s most famous pieces. A Federal Reserve visit focused on fintech and innovation; investor networking opportunities hosted by 1871; and a panel discussion at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where founders shared their lessons learned with current MBA students. These conversations reinforced the power of partnership, innovation, and community in helping founders grow and scale their businesses.
“Everyone is looking for the next breakthrough, but sometimes, the biggest innovation comes from the smallest observations. These presentations remind us that innovation belongs to those who stays curious – one idea can be a catalyst for an entire organization’s or industry’s change.”
- Robin Growley, Head, U.S. Consumer Products, BMO U.S. Banking
The week concluded with the WMNfintech Showcase, where founders pitched their solutions to BMO leaders, investors, and corporate partners, creating new opportunities for collaboration, growth, and future partnerships.
