BMO’s helping to grow girls’ soccer across Newfoundland and Labrador
BMO Gives & Sponsorships

We are proud to announce a new partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association (NLSA) that’s aimed at building a more inclusive environment, growing participation and empowering girls and women in soccer.
Launching in 2026, the BMO Girls Play NL program will offer free, fully accessible opportunities for self-identified girls and women across the province. This program features two components: a coaching stream in which girls aged 15-17 develop foundational coaching skills, and a playing stream in which girls aged 6-8 take part in fun, engaging summer soccer festivals while being mentored by coaches.
This initiative is designed to create a safe, inclusive space where girls can stay active, build self-assurance and remain involved in the sport.
“As the Bank of Soccer, BMO has long championed organizations and efforts that further sport equity, supporting women and grassroots levels. Through our partnership with NLSA, BMO Girls Play NL will grow the game locally, creating lasting impact by inspiring and developing the next generation of youth soccer.”
- Dean Holloway, Regional Vice President – Newfoundland & Labrador
BMO has proudly supported soccer for over two decades, from grassroots programs to professional leagues, creating a lasting connection between BMO and the sport across North America. With existing strong partnerships in Ontario, Quebec and BC, we’re thrilled to welcome Newfoundland and Labrador to the roster, expanding our reach and impact nationwide.
With the FIFA World Cup 2026 on the horizon, the launch of the Northern Super League, and an overhaul to the MLS schedule to align with global professional leagues, the excitement around soccer is bigger than ever. As the world’s eyes turn to the pitch, BMO is stepping up our game, expanding our grassroots support and making an even deeper impact in communities from coast to coast – because giving kids access to soccer today helps shape the future for generations to come.
Since 2005, BMO has invested over $25 million to engage, develop, and cultivate youth soccer in Canada, supporting more than 1 million young athletes. Aligned with our Purpose to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life, BMO invests in programs that ensure access and education for players, coaches and volunteers, helping soccer thrive in every community.
