BMO has been named one of the Bay Area's Top Corporate Philanthropists by the San Francisco Business Times, recognizing the bank’s ongoing investment in communities across the region.

The list recognizes the top for-profit companies and nonprofit healthcare institutions based on their cash contributions to charitable organizations across the Greater Bay Area. BMO’s inclusion was recognized at the Corporate Philanthropy Awards and Summit on July 30, where Halé Behzadi, Vice Chair, California for BMO U.S., participated in a panel discussion on the importance of giving alongside local leaders.

“This recognition reflects what’s possible when employees, nonprofit partners and community leaders come together to strengthen our communities. Across the Bay Area, BMO contributes time, talent and resources to help expand access to opportunity. We’re honored to be recognized alongside organizations that share a commitment to helping communities thrive.”

In 2025, BMO provided more than $4.66 million1 to nonprofit organizations serving communities across the Greater Bay Area. The bank's support includes investments in organizations such as GRID Alternatives, United Way Bay Area and the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, helping advance workforce development, economic opportunity, community health and community resilience initiatives.

Beyond financial contributions, BMO employees support local communities through volunteerism, employee giving and participation on nonprofit boards and advisory committees throughout the region.

Recent investments in organizations such as GLIDE Memorial in San Francisco and Roots Community Health in Oakland have helped families access essential services, expanded pathways to employment and strengthened community resilience across the Bay Area.

"At United Way Bay Area, we believe financial stability isn't a luxury, it's a foundation,” said Keisha Browder, CEO, United Way Bay Area, who also participated in the panel discussion.

“Our partnership with BMO through SparkPoint has helped thousands of Bay Area neighbors move from surviving to thriving, offering the coaching, resources, and community they need to build real financial mobility. When a company like BMO invests in our neighbors this way, they're not just funding a program, they're investing in the future of our entire region. United is the Way, and partnerships like this one prove what's possible when we build that future together."

Colleagues in the region, along with leaders from across the U.S., have played an important role in advancing this work. Their efforts help ensure BMO’s community giving strategy remains responsive to local needs and aligned with the bank’s broader purpose to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life.

That commitment extends well beyond the Bay Area. Across North America, BMO supports organizations working to build stronger communities through philanthropy, employee giving and volunteerism. In 2025, BMO directed more than $124 million to drive progress for communities, including $115.7 million in philanthropic contributions, more than 65,000 volunteer hours and more than $40.3 million contributed through employee-driven giving campaigns.
