For Online Banking security

DO

  • Always verify the Bank's web site name ("www.bmo.com") in the Address or Location place at the top of the top of the browser
  • Sign-in to Online Banking and select the "Contact Us" option at the top right hand side of the page if you need to send us confidential or personal information
  • Keep your debit and credit cards safe. Do not divulge your passwords/PINs (Personal Identification Numbers) to anyone
  • Change your passwords regularly. Learn more on how to choose a good password
  • Always sign out once you are done with Online Banking. Any Online Banking session left idle for more than 10 minutes will time-out, and any unfinished transactions will not go through
  • Once you sign out, clear your cache to delete all traces of your Online Banking session from the memory of your computer. Learn more about how to clear your cache

DON'T

  • Use software that "memorizes" passwords
  • Leave your computer while logged into Online Banking
  • Send confidential or personal information through email as it is not a secure method of contact
