What do I do when I received a suspicious email or text message?

 

BMO does not send unsolicited emails or text messages asking for confidential information, such as your password, PIN, access code, credit card, debit card or account numbers.

Please report any suspicious email, text message or website to us at online.fraud@bmo.com.

How do I activate my new card?

 

Once you receive it in the mail, please visit bmo.com/activate and enter your card number.


When will my government benefit payment be deposited to my account?

 

The Government of Canada provides a list of scheduled deposit dates for recurring Government of Canada benefit payments, including some provincial and territorial benefit programs administered by the Canada Revenue Agency. If you’ve signed up for direct deposit, payments will be automatically deposited into your bank account on these dates.

Why do I no longer need to advise you when I am travelling?

 

BMO uses advanced fraud detection systems to protect our customers from unauthorized transactions in Canada and around the world. Our fraud detection systems along with CHIP and PIN technology keep our customer’s credit card information secure while they are travelling.


How do I order cheques?

 

The easiest way to order cheques is to sign on to BMO Online Banking and follow these steps:

  1. Click My Accounts.
  2. Select your Bank Account.
  3. Click Order Cheques. For Small Business customers, click Re-Order Cheques.
  4. Follow instructions.

Please note: only accounts with cheque writing privileges can order cheques.


How do I complete a direct deposit form?

 

To set up direct deposits for your pay, download the BMO Direct Deposit form and follow these steps:

  1. Complete the form online.
  2. Save or print the form.
  3. Attach a void cheque or include your account number, financial institution number and branch transit number.
    • You can find this information on your cheques or by signing on to Online Banking.
    • Click My Accounts.
    • Select your bank account. You will find the information in the blue box.
  4. Send the completed form to the payer.
