BMO Asset Management Inc. is a prominent Canadian institutional and mutual fund investment manager providing a variety of investment solutions across asset classes and investment approaches. The firm was established in 1982 as RMN Investment Counsel Inc., and was acquired by Burns Fry Limited in 1991. As a result of the Burns Fry merger with Nesbitt Thomson in 1994, the firm became part of the BMO Financial Group. Previously operating under the name Jones Heward Investment Counsel Inc., the company was renamed BMO Asset Management Inc. in May 2010 following amalgamation with the BMO Exchange Traded Funds and Quantitative Investments groups. BMO Asset Management Inc. and its affiliates had over $300 billion in assets under management as of July 31, 2014.
