Justin Oliver - Vice President
Exchange Traded Funds
Justin has more than 15 years of experience in the investment industry, specializing in capital markets and finance. Prior to joining the BMO team, Justin was a director at Fraser Mackenzie for 3 years where he served as the Global Head of Institutional Equity Sales. Prior to that he was with Canaccord Genuity Corp. for 7 years as a V.P. Institutional Equity Sales. He currently acts as a board member for Selwyn Resources and began his career at KPMG. Justin has a Chartered Accountant (CPA) designation and holds a B.A.C.S. from the University of Western Ontario, Huron College in Finance and Economics. Justin also holds his PDO, CSC and CPH.
Sam DiTella - Vice President
As Vice-President, National Accounts, Sam is responsible for developing and maintaining key relationships in the Canadian retail and institutional markets. He works with Portfolio Managers, MF and ETF Analysts, Product Managers and MFDA and IIROC Investment Dealers to effectively integrate both BMO Mutual Funds and exchange traded products into their business. Sam has over 18 years of experience in the financial services industry, ranging from institutional pension, mutual funds, insurance segregated funds and ETFs. He is a graduate of Guelph University in Management Economics and has been with BMO GAM since 2009.
Laura Tase - Vice President
Laura joined BMO GAM in February 2012 as a Vice-President, covering downtown Toronto. She has worked in the financial services industry since 2004 in a variety of roles and possesses product knowledge in managed assets, mutual funds, ETFs and segregated fund products. She has an MBA from University of Windsor and is a CFA Charter holder.
Kevin Prins - Vice President
With more than 18 years of industry experience in banking, securities, mutual funds and financial education, Kevin provides a rare combination of both industry knowledge and educational expertise on Exchange Traded Funds. During his career he has authored several investment industry courses for the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), including the recent development of an ETF focused course. Kevin frequently interacts with portfolio managers and investors about the benefits of ETFs and how they can be used to add value to any investment portfolio. He is a regular contributor to investment industry publications, has also been a guest speaker and panelist at industry events, and has appeared several times on BNN. Kevin has an MBA from Dalhousie University and holds a number of industry designations including FCSI, CIM and CFP.
Daniel Stanley - Vice President
Daniel's 18 years of experience in the capital markets industry includes positions in sales and investment management in Toronto and New York City. During his 7 years at CIBC World Markets he developed expertise in helping advisors use structured products and foreign exchange solutions. He managed global currency exposure at Bloomberg LP, and previously held a role as an investment advisor at RBC Dominion Securities, where he advised clients on security selection and portfolio management. Daniel's consultative approach to working with investors is well suited to increasing the awareness of BMO ETFs among retail and institutional clients. Daniel is a CFA Charterholder and holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from McGill University.
Alain Desbiens - Vice President
Quebec & Atlantic
Alain brings more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry to his role as BMO ETF specialist for eastern Canada. A seasoned financial expert with experience as a broker, Alain has been instrumental in raising awareness of the benefits of ETFs to individual, retail and institutional clients through his facilitation of client seminars. He has also played an equally pivotal role in keeping portfolio managers in eastern Canada and Quebec aware of new developments in the ETF sphere. Prior to joining BMO, Alain worked as wholesaler and sales manager in the wealth distribution field, as well as a branch manager and investment advisor in the brokerage industry. Alain is a graduate of Laval University with a BA in Industrial Relations. Alain Desbiens won the 2015 Wholesaler of the Year Award at the Canadian Wealth Professional Awards. Alain Desbiens was finalist at the 2016 Wholesaler of the Year Award at the Canadian Wealth Professional Awards.
Erika Toth - ETF Specialist
Erika brings to the table experience in investment analysis, portfolio construction, and trading of equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, options, ETFs and mutual funds. She is known for her attention to detail and consultative approach in providing support and education to advisors and portfolio managers. Erika is a CFA charter holder and has obtained several licenses with the Canadian Securities Institute in derivatives and options trading. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (double major in Finance and Marketing) from John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in Montreal.
Mark Webster - Vice President
Mark is the BMO ETF team's representative for Western Canada. With over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mark has covered many diverse forms of financial risk. He began his career as a professional indemnity broker, becoming a vice president at Minet International Professional Indemnity Ltd. (now part of AON), conducting risk analysis for the Big 8 global accounting firms, as well as some of the top U.S. law firms. He is responsible for overseeing the proliferation of ETFs throughout Canada's vast western region and providing support to portfolio managers from the Pacific (Duncan B.C.), to the Lakehead (Thunder Bay, Ontario). He has worked as a retail investment advisor with RBC DS; in the mutual fund industry with First Trust Portfolios; and has held several other positions in the pension industry. He brings with him a Master’s degree in Russian History from McGill University and several CSI accreditations.
Rob Butler - Vice President
Rob brings strategic vision, extensive knowledge, and almost a decade of senior leadership experience to his role as Vice President, BMO ETF Sales. Prior to joining BMO, Rob served as the Executive Director of Incapital Canada and held leadership positions at HSBC and CIBC World Markets. His areas of expertise include structured products, ETFs, and derivatives. Rob holds an MBA in Accounting and Strategy from the University of Windsor and a BA (Hons.) in Philosophy from the University of Western Ontario.
