7. Make at least two (2) Eligible Bill payments (defined below) from the Chequing Account by January 31, 2017;

An “Eligible Bill Payment” is defined as:

 

  1. A bill payment made:
    1. at a BMO Branch;
    2. through a BMO ATM;
    3. through BMO Online Banking;
    4. using BMO Mobile Banking (including BMO Mobile Banking App, BMO Tablet App or smartphone mobile web at bmo.com); or
    5. using Telephone Banking (through Interactive Voice Response system (IVR) or with an associate); OR
  2. a recurring Pre-Authorized Debit; OR
  3. a transfer from your Chequing Account to a BMO credit product.

 

 

An Eligible Bill Payment excludes:

  • Payments made at a BMO branch that are remitted manually (paper submission) and do not appear itemized on your Chequing Account transaction history;
  • A Pre-Authorized Debit that is debited and returned as non-sufficient funds, payment stopped, or returned as unauthorized; or
  • An electronic payment that is debited and subsequently cancelled or recalled.

8. Set up the Chequing Account as the funding account for the New BMO Mortgage by [date].

 

Exclusions:

The following customers are not eligible for the $800.00 cash offer:

BMO Mortgage Free for a Year Contest (the “Contest”)
Contest Rules

 

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST CONSTITUTES FULL AND UNCONDITIONAL AGREEMENT AND ACCEPTANCE OF THESE CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS. BY PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST, EACH PARTICIPANT REPRESENTS AND WARRANTS THAT THEY MEET THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND THAT THEY HAVE READ, ACCEPT AND AGREE TO BE LEGALLY BOUND THESE RULES (THE “CONTEST RULES”).

 

CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest begins on September 6, 2016, at 12:00:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on October 31, 2016, at 11:59:59 p.m. ET (“Contest Period”).

 

ELIGIBILITY

The Contest is open to all legal residents of Canada, who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time of entry. Employees (and those people with whom they are domiciled) of Bank of Montreal, and/or their subsidiaries or affiliates (collectively "BMO" or the “Sponsor”), or their respective advertising and promotional agencies, prize suppliers or the independent Contest administrator and their respective representatives are not eligible to enter the Contest.

 

HOW TO ENTER

There are three (3) ways to enter:

 

Method 1: You will receive one (1) entry (“Entry”) into the Contest when:

  1. You apply for, switch from another financial institution into, or refinance, a BMO mortgage, including a BMO Homeowner Readiline with an installment loan (“BMO Mortgage”) online at bmo.com, at a BMO Bank of Montreal branch, with a BMO Mortgage Specialist or through BMO’s Customer Contact Centre during the Contest Period; and
  2. You are approved for the BMO Mortgage during the Contest Period; and
  3. The BMO Mortgage funds are advanced by January 31, 2017 into a closed mortgage with a term of four (4) years or more and a minimum mortgage amount of $200,000.00.

 

If the BMO Mortgage has more than one borrower, only one Entry, which will be in the name of all borrowers, will be entered into the Contest.

 

All BMO Mortgage applications are subject to meeting Bank of Montreal’s normal credit criteria.

 

Method 2:

You will receive one (1) Entry into the Contest when you provide renewal instructions for your existing BMO Mortgage with a minimum renewal balance of $200,000.00 into a closed mortgage term of four (4) years or longer during the Contest Period.

 

If a BMO Mortgage has more than one borrower, only one Entry, which will be in the name of all borrowers, will be entered into the Contest.

 

Method 3: NO PURCHASE ENTRY: To enter the Contest without making a purchase, prepare an original hand-written essay of 1,000 words or less on “What Living Mortgage Free for A Year Means to Me” (“Essay”) along with your name, complete mailing address (including postal code), daytime and evening telephone numbers and mail it in a sealed envelope bearing sufficient postage to:

The Entry must be postmarked during the Contest Period and received no later than November 4, 2016. BMO will not be responsible for illegible, incomplete, inaccurate, incorrect, lost, misdirected or late Entries, all which will be void.

 

There is a limit of one (1) Entry per person regardless of entry method.

 

PRIZE

There is one (1) Prize of C$28,000 cash available to be won. The Prize is the approximate value of one (1) year’s mortgage principle and interest and payments on a mortgage of C$500,000.00 with a twenty-five (25)-year amortization period and interest rate of 2.69% with twelve (12) monthly payments of $2,287.42 paid on the first of every month and does not include any pre-payments or pre-payment charges. The winner(s) is/are not entitled to any difference between the Prize value stated and their actual mortgage payments.

 

The Prize will be issued by cheque. If the winner is selected from Method Entry 1 or 2, the cheque will be made payable to the name(s) of the borrower(s) on the BMO Mortgage. If the winner is selected from Method Entry 3, the cheque will be made payable to the name on the mail-in Entry.

 

Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable unless at the discretion of the Sponsor.

 

DRAW AND WINNER SELECTION

On March 3, 2017, in Toronto, Ontario at approximately 1:00 p.m., one (1) eligible entrant will be selected by random draw from all eligible Entries received during the Contest Period. The odds of being selected depend on the number of eligible Entries received.

 

Before being declared a winner, the selected entrant(s), will be notified by telephone: for an Entry received via Method 1 or 2 at the telephone number associated with the BMO Mortgage; or for an Entry received via Method 3 at the telephone number provided in the mail-in Entry,within seven (7) calendar days of the draw date. Before being declared a winner, the selected entrant(s) must first correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone or mail.

 

The selected entrant(s) will be required to sign and return, within ten (10) calendar dates of notification, the Sponsor's standard form of Declaration of Liability, Waiver and Publicity Release (the "Release") which, among other things:

  1. confirms compliance with the Contest Rules;
  2. releases the Contest Sponsor, its affiliated companies and agents, advertising and promotion agencies and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives, successors (collectively “Released Parties”) and assigns from any liability in connection with the Contest, the entrant’s participation therein and/or the awarding and use or misuse of the Prize or any portion thereof; and
  3. grants to the Released Parties the right to use the selected entrant’s name, address (city and province/territory) and likeness in any form of advertising relating to the Contest without further notice or compensation in any publicly or for promotional purposes carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor.

 

If a/each selected entrant(s) :

  1. cannot be contacted by telephone within seven (7) calendar days of selection or there is a return of any prior notification as undeliverable;
  2. fail(s) to correctly answer the skill-testing question; or
  3. do(es) not sign and return the properly executed Release within the specified time,

the entrant(s) Entry can, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be disqualified and the Sponsor shall be entitled to select a new eligible winner from all remaining eligible Entries.

 

GENERAL

 

  1. All Entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.
  2. By entering the Contest, each entrant agrees to abide by these Contest Rules. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws. Void where prohibited by law. The decisions of the Sponsor with respect to all aspects of this Contest are final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal. For Quebec residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling (“Régie”). Any litigation respecting the awarding of the Prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
  3. By entering this Contest, each entrant agrees to hold harmless the Released Parties against any and all liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described) with respect to or arising out of:
    1. entrant's participation in the Contest;
    2. the receipt or use/misuse of the Prize (or any component thereof) awarded therein; and
    3. the administration of the Contest and distribution of the Prize.
  4. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any person and void any Entries of that person who it believes has tampered with the Entry process or any other component of the Contest, whose conduct or action affects the administration, security or fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, or who fails to meet or abide by the Contest Rules.
  5. The Sponsor will not be responsible for late, lost, illegible, fraudulent, misdirected, incomplete, destroyed Entries or for Entries bearing insufficient postage. All such Entries will be void.
  6. The Sponsor does not assume any responsibility and will not be liable for any failure of the telephone number(s) during the Contest, tampering, theft, defects, viruses, human errors including negligence, deletions, technical or telephone, computer line, network, server, access providers, computer equipment or software problems, undeliverable messages, computer errors, lost, misdirected, late or incomplete Entries or inaccurate capture of information or any online difficulties that may result in computer damage or malfunction or the failure of the Sponsor to receive or process any Entry and otherwise award any Prize. The Sponsor is not responsible for printing errors appearing in these Contest Rules or related Contest materials. In addition, the Sponsor will not assume any responsibility of any nature whatsoever in all cases where their inability to hold the Contest or to remit the Prize to the winner results from a cause beyond their control, including acts of god, weather conditions, strike, lock-out or other labour dispute.
  7. The Sponsor, with the consent of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux, reserves the right to:
    1. cancel or suspend this Contest in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind without prior notice or obligation, and
    2. withdraw or amend this Contest in any way, in the event of an error, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Contest Rules.
  8. By entering this contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with his/her Entry for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy available at: bmo.com/privacy unless the entrant otherwise agrees to receive further communications from Sponsor. In addition, the Sponsor may retain and use this information for future marketing of its products and services to you and may share it within the Bank its subsidiaries and affiliates, which provides deposit, loan, investment, securities, brokerage, insurance, trust and other products and services.
