Established in 1996, the team at BMO Capital Partners has grown to 17 individuals located in 4 offices across the country (Toronto, Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver). Our professionals have experience in a wide variety of industries including merchant banking, investment banking, mergers & acquisitions, structured finance, venture capital, risk management and corporate restructuring.
Our senior leadership includes:Alex Baniczky
Alex is the head of the BMO Capital Partners and Mid-Market Mergers & Acquisitions lines of business with a focus on private equity, subordinated debt and M&A transactions across Canada. Alex brings over 20 years of experience in investment, project, and structured financing. Alex joined BMO in 1998 and has held a variety of senior level positions within the BMO financial group.
Alex is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and has a BA (Honours) from Queens University at Kingston.David C. Smith
David Smith is a Managing Director of BMO Capital Partners and shares responsibility for overseeing investments in Ontario. David has over 20 years of experience in acquisition and project financing, corporate restructuring and mezzanine finance with Schedule 1 financial institutions. David has a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours List) and MBA (Dean's List) from the University of Toronto.
Richard Lajeunesse is a Managing Director of BMO Capital Partners and is responsible for overseeing investments in Quebec. Richard brings over 15 years of corporate and commercial finance expertise mainly in senior debt lending and risk management. Richard holds an LL.L in Law, a B.Sc. in Economics as well as a M. Sc. in Applied Economics. He is also a member of the Quebec Bar, has a CFA Designation and is currently completing his FRM certification (Global Association of Risk Professionals – USA).Lee Grimshaw
Lee Grimshaw is a Managing Director of BMO Capital Partners and is responsible for overseeing investments in Western Canada. Lee has extensive industry and corporate experience in Aircraft Engines, Aerospace and Appliances, in addition to 10 years of financial services industry experience in subordinated debt, equity, senior debt cash flow and asset backed transactions. Lee holds a degree in Commerce, has an MBA in Finance, and is a CFA charter holder. He is also an alumnus of the GE Financial Management Program.
