We strive to be a leader in environmental sustainability. Whether we’re reducing our footprint, making responsible lending and investment decisions, developing products or providing financial support to organizations, the goal of our Clear Blue Skies environmental strategy is clear: to integrate environmental considerations into everything we do.
In August 2010, we announced that BMO was carbon neutral, across our enterprise, worldwide. Our three-point strategy to achieve this ambitious goal included limiting emissions from transportation and energy use; purchasing electricity from renewable energy sources; and purchasing carbon credits to offset remaining emissions.
Our Sustainability Council, consisting of senior leaders from across BMO, meets quarterly and provides oversight and guidance as we continue to implement our Clear Blue Skies strategy.
