Training programs

CSR Development Program is designed to prepare employees for their role as a Customer Service Representative (CSR). The program focuses on establishing foundational product and service knowledge, system, policy and process, to equip employees with the required skill sets to assist customers in the branches.

Personal Lending Development Program is a comprehensive training program designed to quickly and effectively prepare a new BMO employee for their role as a Financial Services Manager (FSM). Courses cover among other things, Personal Lending, Customer Conversations, Insurance Products and Risk Mitigation. The program equips FSMs to confidently deliver financial advice and solutions to our customers.

CAM Development Program is an industry leading seven-month study program designed to prepare an employee for their role as a Commercial Account Manager (CAM). The program provides trainees with the opportunity to develop a full understanding of the CAM role requirements as well as the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver great customer experiences. The training is a combination of classroom learning and practice in the field. CAMs are trained in Accounting, Financial Analysis, Commercial Credit and Customer Conversations effectively preparing them to deliver Commercial Relationship Management the BMO Way.

Branch Manager Development Program is an off-role program consisting of formal and informal learning designed to develop the skills, confidence and commitment required to lead teams in delivering great customer experiences. Courses include Leadership Development, Coaching for Performance, Understanding Our Business, Presenting to Inspire Action and Customer Conversations for Leaders.

Everyday Banking or Cards Essential Training Program is designed to prepare employees for their role as a Contact Center Agent (CCA). The program focuses on establishing foundational product and service knowledge, policy and process and on-the-job training, to equip employees with the required skill sets to assist customers over the phone.

Training programs

Bank Manager Training Program is a six-month training program including classroom, e-learning and self-study courses. Candidates have the chance to work with Learning Partners (experienced Bank Managers, Personal Bankers, etc.) to gain on-the-job experience. Candidates who successfully complete the program are placed as Assistant Bank Managers, and are then eligible to apply for Bank Manager Opportunities.

Business Banking Development Program is an intense 12-month program of classroom instruction, mentoring, peer learning and hands-on experience, designed to provide graduates with the skills and a clear view of what it takes to succeed as a Relationship Manager. Commercial Banking Analyst Development Program is a year-long program which provides a unique combination of experiences including classroom learning, e-learning, seminars, peer partnering, mentoring and team-building activities. ERPM operates as the second line of defense in BMO's 'Three Lines of Defense' Risk Management Framework and, through this framework, works with BMO businesses on the identification, measurement, monitoring and management of credit, market, operational and other risk types. Marketing & Communications

Provides value added information, knowledge and advice. This involves preparation, analysis and dissemination of information on financial performance and condition, ensuring the Bank's high standards of governance are maintained and regulatory requirements are met; provide financial support and advice to business initiatives; and position financial results with the external communities. This group is also responsible for corporate development initiatives, financial strategy, asset liability management, balance sheet funding, liquidity, securitization, capital management, taxation and investor relations.

The Office of Strategic Management (OSM)

Drives the development of winning strategies. To catalyze strategy development at the enterprise, group and line of business levels, the OSM closely collaborates with colleagues across BMO to define the goals, draw up the blue prints, and determine the measurable outcomes that will produce competitive advantage for BMO Financial Group, wherever we do business. The OSM also manages BMO's technology investment portfolio, tracks strategic initiatives, oversees the enterprise project management and management consulting activities and provides research services.

Human Resources

Human resources is responsible for growing and sustaining a culture that focuses on customers, high performance and people.

  • In addition, it unifies all networks and systems technology delivering excellence in day-to-day operations. This team ensures 24-hour availability to on-line, telephone and ABM financial services for our customers.
  • Information Security provides expert direction, planning and consultation on information security best practices and integrated processes. They also provide ongoing active information security leadership and management expertise to BMO.

Operations provides exceptional customer service and best-in-class solutions to BMO's customers. It includes Product Operations for P&C Canada, P&C US, Private Client Group, Capital Markets, and End-to-End Initiatives.

  • Product Operations is responsible for service, fulfilment and administrative activities that support our customers' personal and business financial transactions with BMO.

Procurement and Strategic Sourcing (P&SS)

P&SS influences BMO's $2.6 billion in annual supplier spend, generating substantial savings for the enterprise through the identification of cost reduction opportunities and negotiations with suppliers. We are responsible for establishing and maintaining the framework used to govern supplier arrangements including outsourcing relationships through the Outsourcing Centre of Competency.

  • Procurement Operations is responsible for driving efficiencies in BMO's end-to-end procurement processes which includes generating BMO's purchase orders and processing the enterprise's invoices.
